I think there is a process for this through their website. I am not 100% sure on that.

According to Straight Talk, 4G LTE is available, and they do offer the SGS3.
Plug in your zip code here and see....
    http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/port...support/phones

So far as coverage, Straight Talk uses the Verizon network but it's the prepaid one, which means that in certain areas Verizon phones on contracts will have access to non-Verizon signals that Straight Talk doesn't.

Go to the Verizon website and check the map, be sure to select the Prepaid version. Areas that are "prepaid roaming" will not be covered by Straight Talk.

Once your phone is rooted and unlocked your phone will work with straightalk. ST has put out some new settings that you put in your phone and everything will work just like when you were on verizon.

My wife is considering trying a pre paid or no contract phone. Can anyone tell me how Straight Talk is? Is Boost or Metro PCS any better?

I noticed on the Straight Talk website it said a lot of the phones were still running old Android versions. Do they not receive updates like the main carriers? Can they be rooted just the same? I'm trying to get her to get the S3. I'd want to root it though so I could disable whatever junk is on it. I'm actually considering switching to a pre paid phone plan. Paying $45 a month just seems so appealing.

Honestly, if AT&T or T-Mo is avail in your area, you can get a reasonably priced phone on Swappa and get the corresponding SIM. Just a thought.

I went with a Straight Talk AT&T SIM for my N5. Works great. Around here, Red & Blue are the best choices for networks. T-Mo may be great where you live. If you want prepaid, best to buy a phone outright and get a SIM with the carrier you want.

They only have T-Mobile or AT&T? I thought it worked with Verizon too.

I believe it works with the big four carriers. Just not sure how with the CDMA phones. I think it's more involved than with GSM phones.
