I just preordered the GS3 for Verizon at Best Buy. Since the ship-by date is July 9th and the plans start on June 28, will I have to switch plans? I'm already granfathered into unlimited. I'll probably end up calling customer support. Just wanted to check by here in case anyone had the answer. Thanks
When you pre ordered didn't they show you a contract or anything? If you bought it for the reduced price they should have showed you a plan that you are on.. my guess is that you are fin considering you paid for the phone before judgement day
Well at best buy the preorder is just a spot in line, if you will, to buy the phone when they receive it. They said they would set up the contract when i come in to pick up the phone. I'm thinking that i'm going to have to cancel that and bite the bullet from verizon itself.
I renewed mine online with VZ when i pre-ordered. I would double check with BB for sure.I just preordered the GS3 for Verizon at Best Buy. I would not pre order with the Bestbuy. This has been covered on Droid-life. You are not actually locking your unlimited plan this way, just a spot for the phone. Unless you actually sign the contract before June 28, you will be switched to the shared plan.
EDIT: That's the way I understand it anyways. It makes sense too. If you don't lock in the contract, you may not be guaranteed the pricing you desire, just that you should have a phone available to you.

You can use many phones on Straight Talk.I think their saving grace will be the people who cannot afford the full price of phones and depend on the contract price. Not sure how many of them there are compared to those who can pay full price, but I quit getting my phones at Verizon. Now, I get mine at BestBuy and put it on my card so I can pay it off in 6 months.
But I'll jump to T-Mobile or All-Tel and just buy unlocked phones if Verizon keeps up their crap. The wife even mentioned jumping to Straight Talk, but I need a decent Android phone. And she's been a Big Red customer since 1999.

I agree with Deja. I believe the only way to preserve unlimited data is to pre-order the phone directly through VZW.@Sheffy

I figured it would be cheaper for my family to be on the shared plan. So whatever happens, I'm fine with.
Looks like the tiered data plans *might* help people with multiple devices. They will definitely screw people who only have one active device.
