    Huntin' & Fishin' Talk

Well here in Michigan it's that time of year! I know there have to be a few other hunters or fishermen and women here.... I thought I would give us a little corner of the site to gather..... Tell us about your latest trip! Let's not make it to graphic if you do include photos or descriptions... Remember not everyone grew up in the woods so some photos/descriptions may not be for all audiences.....

I was up north this weekend doing some scouting as Bow season opens here October 1st. I have 40 acres with a few stands here and there... I walked ALL over and found some of the best deer sign directly behind my cabin... Very nice rub already which is very early this year. Well I have a stand about 200 yards from where this was but the stand hasn't been Hu ted in a few years so it was really really grown in around it. Well I decided to move the stand instead of clearing the trees so I moved it about 200 feet into a nice tall group of beach trees.... I am getting VERY excited about this season. I got myself a new computer chair at home so my old one is going up in the stand on a little taller pedestal. I am one who likes to be comfortable when I am in the woods......

    Note Uno Uno.

I do a lot of ice fishing. Problem is the last couple years we've only had a few weeks of good ice. I have a permanent shanty I used to put out but the last couple years I just take my minute man portable out there. We actually have a lake up by our cabin. We used to set out a couple tip ups then walk up in the woods and hunt on the hill while we watched the tip ups.... I was young when we did that again the weather hasn't cooperated the last few years.

Well I think that after the morning hunt tomorrow if things don't pick up I am going to call it a week and wait for cold weather. The rut hasn't started yet, the fields are still full of squash so there is no real reason for the deer to move during the day. But seeing the fox this morning was well well worth it

Saw 7 deer this morning. 5 were this year's deer very tiny just out of spots. Other 2 were bigger but didn't come close enough and we're making every noise in the book to get the little ones back away from me. The big ones were behind me and I didn't see them until it was to late.

I fish. I use and Ugly Stick and a Banjo lure. That is all that is needed.
