Love it JeanLouis! Never had the pleasure of actually owning a Porsche, but a couple of my very dear friends have, so I've had the pleasure of driving theirs extensively over the past 25+ years. There is simply no substitute.

Yes, it is a reward I gave myself for a lifelong of wanting one, but always giving priority to my family, as we all do. But after turning 50, I started indulging mysellf a bit...
no, a lot actually. I buy them used, of course, in Germany, where there are always a lot of second hand Porsches. Got a very very good deal on this one, and it is the best car I ever owned. And trust me, I had a lot !!!

It had (when I bought it) an aftermarket 9FF electronic power management system (with a turbo, it is easy to tweak...), non standard exhaust, and a rolling road power print out of 513 bhp !! Had it 3 years, taken it on track several times, driven it to England where I live and work about half the year, go shopping with it... It is Car Heaven !!

I'd love to see photos of your friend's 911... come on, you must have made some !!!! Which model was it. Air cooled? Water cooled?...

Lovely car (and clearly well looked after). These wheels must be hard to keep clean and shining !!!!

Had a BM 3 during my "family with kids" years... Lovely car. It was only a 320i, the 6cyl / 2 Litre, but even for a small engine like that,
the velvety smoothness of a six cylinder, and the sound of it... are lovely. I can imagine what a 3 Litres gives...

Go easy on the snow with rear wheel drive !!!

My favourite is this >> totally impractical, I'm sure, but what a hoot !!

    Definitely!
The xi would've been more practical in the snow, but with traction control my "i" does surprisingly well in the snow.

Always been a bimmer fan. I owned a string of a e30's a while ago. Those truly were the good years; just a blast to drive. To this day my (realistic) dream car is still an e30 M3. And when we're empty nesters I'll get to splurge like you JL. But for now it's two station Wagon.

320 didn't make it to the states, but agree their inline sixes have always been silky smooth.

Yes, of course... in the U.S., you are more into larger capacity engines, "big blocks" I believe you call them. Friend of mine has a recent Mustang... and wow ! The sound of that engine is amazing.

I remember the pleasure of sitting in that BM3... pretty wood, lovely feeling of being cocooned, instrument panel was all slightly curved
towards the driver (I think they have dropped that distinctive feature now). Really lovely cars.

You have to give it to the Germans... they make outstanding cars. French cars have a lot of flair ans syle, but I gave up on them years ago because
of the lack of reliability. "Friday-afternoon-cars" are not just a joke, here... Ninja, our British friend may confirm this... A german worker does the same
job on a Friday afternoon as on a Tuesday.
