disable email vibrate notification on call

Hi all

I upgraded my S3 to Android 4.0.4 yesterday on Rogers in Canada and it's running even better.

The only issue I noticed is regarding the vibration notification form the native email app. I used to not get notified when I was on a call and an email comes through. Now, it vibrates every time i get an email while on a call. i did find the setting in the email app to remove the vibration notification but it removes it completely even when not on a call and also when it's in vibrate mode??

for Gmail it's working well, only get a silent status bar notification which is what I want.

does anyone experience the same? let me know what I should do. it's frustrating to get that vibrating noise while on a call. i did try the kill the duck app but it didn't work....

Welcome to the forum. Try this: open the phone app and press menu (lower left hand corner). Then call settings > call alert > and uncheck alerts on call. I think that will do the trick.

Thanks for the tip VoiceGuy.... unfortunately I had already tried that and the only thing it does it disable the sound notification and not the vibrate... seems as the native app's vibrate option (when selected or un-selected) overrides all other....

So still looking for a solution.

What about if you try call settings > vibrate > never? That might do it. I haven't tried it because I like mine to vibrate when I'm on a call so I have "always" selected.

tried that as well... the vibrate option is for voicemail only... so being already set to "never" still doesn't change anything.


im really stuck here... didn't have that issue when on Android 4.0.1 but since the native email app added the vibrate it screwed it up...
