The SGS3 running ICS is the first phone I've had that works flawlessly with my in car Bluetooth & I'm a bit worried that JB might break that so, if it does, will a factory reset take me back to ICS & how would I then get the ICS updates?

Factory reset just deletes installed apps, cache, and personal data.

We don't know if it will be possible to revert from jb once updated. My guess is you will, but its better to let he update come and wait a week or two. Let others figure it out then make your move.

Your carrier/manufacturer can do sneaky things with updates too. Tether monitoring added to GB on the droidx. Root counter added to ICS on RAZR and bionic. Sneaky.

A way to tell how many times the phone has been rooted.

Thanks for the info brucebanner77, fortunately I bought my SGS3 sim free so no carriers will be sneaking anything on it :-)
