Google Maps Refresh Includes Hi-Res Satellite Imagery and 45° Pictures for 51 Cities

At a time when the competition is having to apologize for a bad mapping app, Google Maps just keeps getting better and better. Google's newest big refresh now includes high resolution satellite imagery for most of the world with several new areas. It also brings 45° Pictures for 51 new Cities.

So, while those other guys are busy trying to whip out a 3d rendered version of the world for fancy "flyovers," Google is actually letting us see hi-res pics of the real thing at multiple angles. Oh, and of course, Google Maps actually works and doesn't lead you on a wild goose chase (most of the time). I guess there is something to be said about creating "function over form."
