At IFA Samsung Promises that Jelly Bean Will be Coming Soon to the Galaxy S III

It looks like the rumors we heard that Samsung may be bringing Jelly Bean to their flagship Galaxy S III device may turn out to be true. In fact, at their keynote speech during IFA Samsung shared that both the SGS3 and their new Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet should be getting the Android 4.1 update "very soon." While that isn't very specific, it is still very encouraging, and most of the industry intel suggests we should see it within a week or two. As always we will keep our eye on things and share just as soon as we hear anything.

Pretty crazy how much better and more frequent the apple updates are. This wait is ridiculous

In my opinion, everything is right on track.
    1. This phone was JUST released, expecting a major OS update like this within a couple of months is completely unrealistic.
    2. Most Android phones haven't even received or are just now receiving ICS.
    3. Assuring JB has been tested, retested, and tested again on their flagship phone is imperative. All you have to do is look at the ICS update pushed too early to the Galaxy S2, to see why this is so important. That update messed up so many peoples S2 it's not even funny.
    4. Apple has 1 phone and 1 phone only to update. Android has dozens & dozens of different makes and models to deal with, not to mention all the different carriers and their respective bloat.
I guess I'm a little more forgiving (or maybe patient is a better word) being that I had to wait close to a year just to get Froyo on my Fascinate. People with earlier Androids were forced to be patient. Nowadays, phones are being released with ICS and the interwebz are exploding with upset users because they haven't received JB after 2-3 months.
I say let them take their time and do it right the first time. Everyone else who wants instant gratification can download any number of JB roms that are available across all carrier makes of the S3.

It only took Apple 4 years to put 3g in their phones. Now that'd quick, seeing all UK phones had it since 2005. Old tech is always quick to update because the updates are old as well. Also most Apple updates are fixes for problems, or installing something 'new' (to Apple) to sue about next.

Not entirely true. The iPhone models that are *capable* of running iOS 5 are the 3GS, 4, and 4S. That doesn't mean that they all currently *have* iOS 5. Older models aren't even able to run the latest & greatest. The only point I'm trying to make here is that even the great & powerful Fruit can't bring all of its minions onto the same level playing field.

As far as Android goes ... there are many, many, many models of devices out there. Having a flagship phone like the GS3 means that you *will* get the latest & greatest much sooner than the rest. Be patient, give the manufacturers & carriers time to get it right, and rejoice when it comes. And if you get tired of waiting, root & flash a custom ROM. Either way, you'll still be way ahead of so many other Android users out there.

Dude so what. That doesn't mean jack to me. I had an iphone4, i don't care about all the iphone before me. All I know is apple says an update adding this releases on this date. This date comes and it releases. End of story. Samsung has been talking about jelly bean since before the gs3 launched. I don't get a date. It's a horrible setup. I'm pretty sure I'm going back to apple just because how retarded this is. Plus the apps take In app purchasing to a crazy level. Apple has in app purchases but they also mostly give you the option to buy full version and to the extent android apps do it seems excessive.

I love my phone but but the crazy defense of why... Is just that crazy. I don't care what phones have to be accounted for as a consumer its a horrible customer experience that they don't give a date and just keep people in the dark with coming soon. Then when a so called leak happens... Nobody knows if that's international... America or what.

Oh and another thing support for the gs3 sucks. Apple support is way better.

Fine. That's your opinion. I didn't buy the S3 because it might get JB. I was happy with what it did with ICS. JB is a bonus. I buy hardware for the hardware. It's like you want to buy a laptop now because you want windows 8. That's not how it works.
Go back to Apple and get the iPhone 5 which has 90 less features than a 2 year old S1. Then when your perfect updates catch up I''ll be on my S5. Enjoy the past I''ll live in the now and not stress over updates that no one promised you will get when you bought it. Love the S3 now and more when JB does arrive.
