One of the many cool things about the Samsung Galaxy S III is that it supports wireless charging. Sure, the official wireless charging kit for the smartphone won't be out for at least another month, but at least we know that one is surely coming, alongside other Galaxy S III accessories.

In case one might need an alternative to Samsung's official solution, however, there will be one from the guys at Zens. The company has just announced its own wireless inductive charging kit compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S III. What's included in the set are a Zens back cover equipped with all the circuitry necessary to enable the feature and a charging pad, which delivers power to the smartphone once the handset is placed on top of it. Of course, the back cover comes in blue and white in order to "perfectly match the color of the Samsung Galaxy S3". In case you are wondering, yes, the charging pad is compatible with other devices that meet the Qi standard.

So how can you get one? Well, don't get your credit card out yet as the Zens Samsung Galaxy S III charging kit will be out in September. It will be priced at 69 euro, which is about $85, so depending on how much an official Samsung charger will retail for, the solution from Zens might or might not be a tempting deal.

I believe any case would be an impediment to charging. Similar charging pads require direct contact with the phone.

I think it is a proximity thing so some materials may stifle the ability to charge.

Before this phone came out, I thought it was supposed to be equipped ,out of the box, to be capable of wireless charging as long as you were near the charger ( which was delayed). What happened to that?

This bit about replacing the back, possibly rendering your case useless, and having to lay on a mat is nothing special or new. In fact, I see having to lay it on a special mat as less convenient than a cord that enables me to pick up and use the phone while charging.

The mat should be an external battery that can charge the phone away from an outlet. Then I would get this.

The OEM Sammy wireless charger will also require a special backplate.
