Samsung Galaxy S III May be Experiencing Some Build Quality Issues with Casing

I guess not all news regarding the Samsung Galaxy S III is good news. According to a few reports, the flagship device is experiencing some build quality issues related to its casing. When the phone was first introduced it was reported that the first batch of Pebble Blue cases had a slew of about 600,000 that needed to be destroyed due to faults in the manufacturing process leaving aesthetic flaws. Apparently, there are some other issues cropping up with the device. Several users around the web are reporting small cracks showing up on the back case in various places, from around the camera to the side. Supposedly, this is not due to mishandling either. The cracks just started forming for these users after normal daily use and no drops.

While it's far too early to tell if this is a systemic problem with the overall design of the cases, it is still worth reporting, just in case it is something that Samsung needs to investigate further. More than likely this could simply fall under the normal margin of error for the manufacture of any product. Sound off in the forums if you are seeing this same problem.

Those are not cracks. At least not the photo that is shown. The bezel is 4 pieces on my white versions. Those slits are where the pieces meet.

I haven't experienced the battery door cracking.

That may be where the bezel meets on the front of the phone, but it does seem to be a crack on the rear cover.

So do I. Zoom in on it. You can see where the seam is and how it "extends" onto the back cover.

I can find two of those, symetrically located on the top of the phone. I just assuemed the bezel came in multiple pieces and those were the joints. Maybe if it's "appearing" on phones either people are just noticing them or perhaps daily use shifts things around slightly to make the joints more pronounced. Afterall, there is a LOT of polycarbonate and plastic used in this thing. I'm sure it flexes in people's pockets and such.

Yes, that appears to occur on the side of the phone where the bezel thickens. The crack appears to start at the top of the bezel and terminate about 1/2 of the way through it, not all the way into the back case.

Looks like a crack on the side to me, I looked at my 16gb white one, it has the 4 seams on the corners, not the side, and they're very smooth.
