    I use Textra. It gives you the option of what style emojis you want to use.

    I think @Duncang is talking about the old google emojis that looked like androids (i.e. the emoji would be typed like this :-) and show up in text messages as a green face with little antennae). Miller's suggestion of using a different texting app is a good one. You could also switch to a new keyboard. Either would fix the problem.
