Cant stop apps from running in the background

Right, I have app killer installed and running and also have the background processes option set at no background processes. But still when i go into task manager, it shows apps still running! This background apps are draining the battery. Im losing 8% of battery life overnight whilst the phone is idle. I tested my iphone and the battery on that only went down by 1% overnight. Is this an android thing or is there something wrong with my phone?

It is an Android thing. The only real way to stop it is by rooting and freezing the processes.

I haven't tried it, but there is a background process manager in the Settings app all the way down at the bottom. It is called Developer Options. Inside of the sub-category you can manage back grounding processes.

Iv already done that re the background processes but it still doesnt stop it and it also defaults back to standard limit without me doing anything.

I haven't ever used app killers since I root and freeze things that big me. Maybe someone else has a suggestion about possible apps that can do what you want.

A process CAN'T run if it is frozen. What app is it?

Yeah, you really wanna stay away from "app/task killers". Have you tried Titanium Backup G-man? It requires root, but is the absolute go to app to freeze unwanted bloat.

Im not too sure about this rooting business, seems a bit dodgy to me and i probably wouldnt know how to do it anyway. Dont wanna risk screwing my phone up. How important is it? Is it really worth doing?

Are you sure the battery life indicator is linear? I mean it nay be ljje Nancy petrol gauges on cars - the first 25% goes faster than the rest??

I would compare whole usage time rather than what your phone losses overnight. If it losses 8% overnight but still gives you a full day service or more - with your normal usage - then it's not an issue and I'd leave the apps running.

In my experience the iphone didn't last too long through usage but was good on standby.

Rooting is extremely easy and it's just as easy to revert back to stock. Of course, always do your homework and weigh the pros & cons of rooting. Once you do it though and see/feel the benefits, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Stop me if I'm wrong here, but aren't app killers still notorious battery hogs from all the apps starting up again?
