This is my first post, so bare with me please. I am Oh-So-Noob.
I Have an american AT&T SGS3 SGH-I747. it came with 4.0.4. I unlocked it.
I wanted to upgrade to 4.1 JellyBean using Odin (not with Root). and I found this link: How to Install the Official Jelly Bean Update for the Galaxy S3
This allowed me to, supposedly, get the update without rooting at all.
I did what it said, but it kept failing on me (now i know it was because this is the american version...).
I tried it a like 3 times, but on the last attempt, Odin froze, so I force-closed it. My phone was in Download mode still, and i disconnected it (very very stupid thing to do, I know now...). Then i tried to reboot it and it gave the following message: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". i tried to connect it with Kies - didn't work. tried to boot it again - didn't work. always showed me the same screen. and then, i don't know why, the phone turned off.
since then, i cannot turn it on. when i plug to the wall charger - it vibrates (led is not flashing). then when i try to turn it on it shows the empty battery screen with the circular loading sign and then turns off again. when i try to turn it on in Download Mode, nothing happens. when i take out the battery and plug it to the charger, the Led light turns red for like 3 secs and then turns off.
I read in other forums things about "Hard Bricks"... "Jigs"... I have no idea what it all meas and if it has anything to do with my case.
please... i made a lot of mistakes. i know. i'm a fool.
but please help me. i have no idea what to do. i have zero experience it all this rooting/flashing business. i really don't know what to do, and i am seriously panicked.
1. bought the phone in USA, but now i am in the UK. no AT&T here.
2. did a complete backup on Kies before I did anything else.
3. battery does NOT heat up when I try to charge.
Thanks a lot.
