Keyboard issue

I've googled this and not seen much on it yet. I just had my Samsung keyboard stop working, what I believe is referred to as a "force close". I am new to this. Reformed BlackBerry user. LOL I've seen some suggestions for other keyboards, including SwiftKey, but I haven't had time to suss those out. I'm also a freakishly busy college student. Is anyone else having this issue and would comment on it for me? Thank you, and hello, group!

Welcome to the Forum. Check to see that the KB is selected in Settings>Language Input. If the Samsung KB is not checked please do so. If it is pull the battery wait 1 minute and replace and restart your phone.

Welcome to the forum!
When you get a chance you might try some of the alternative keyboards available. There are so many out there that are so much better than stock. Swiftkey is one of the best best. You can try it free for 30 days, than its like 3 bucks, but well worth the money. No other keyboard comes close with its predictive text capabilities. Swype and Touchpal are also very good if you like that style.

If the battery pulled did not solve this for you I am afraid you may be down to having to try another keyboard.... I ran into this with another poster and nothing we tried would solve the issue... After a lot of trial and error they finally went with a 3rd party keyboard and haven't had an issue since...

Folks, I much appreciate the advice! Actually, I read your other discussion, I think! LOL The keyboard you all suggested is selected. I will try pulling the battery, too, but tomorrow...right now I think I'm too tired to wrestle my Toughbox off! I sent a support request to Samsung and if they say anything substantial, I will pass it on. I'll give them a few days for that, try the battery thing, and report back. I will also look into the third party keyboard. I'm hearing a lot of good things about those.

As for people who complain about the Galaxy, they didn't just step up from a BlackBerry 9650 with an attitude problem. My BB was a good phone for quite some time, don't get me wrong, but time just left it behind, like the dinosaurs. Pity. LOL I love my Galaxy so far.
