Galaxy S3 will not connect to Kies or the computer

OK. First off, let me start by telling you that this S3 is a Canadian sold phone and has the model number I747M.

Now, if your not scared off then I'll tell you what the problem is.

After the update of 4.04 for my phone and the update that went with Kies as well, neither my (S3) phone nor my wife's (S2) phone will not connect to the computer or Kies. I was freaked to find out that this is a big problem here where I live and the cell phone companies (I called many) around here are all perplexed as to what to do. They all have issues as well.
After reading and reading and then some more reading...I'm lost.
As I plug in the phone to my (Windows 7 Home Premium) computer a notification comes up that tells me that "Windows can not identify the device plugged into the SAMSUNG mobile Device. Please contact manufacturer"Name: cant see phone.jpg

Every time I plug the phone in now it installs drivers.
I try but Kies will not connect and all it does is keep searching. Kies Wireless won't either. It just freezes up when I try that.
I have tried the debugging mode, trouble shoot mode through Kies, manually updating drivers, rolling back drivers, uninstalling and/or reinstalling Kies.
After a while a notification pops up on my phone telling me that my issue is with Windows Media Player and I have not installed WMP 11. For any of you who know W7 it comes with WMP 12 and there are no updates for it.
Sometimes, (and this is real weird) I get to see my phone in mass storage mode. Like yesterday, it just appeared when I plugged it in to the computer. I was happy. But then today it just...won't.

So, there you have it. This has been going on for a while now and I am at my wits end. this phone is gsm and has LTE and has all the same gimmicks and tricks yours does. IT is the exact same phone. Just model number difference so please don't say "It's Canadian and you don't have enough experience with that model" because that is malarkey.
I suspect a usb driver issue or a conflict issue with another program.
please, I am desperate. I need some real help here. I need commitment to someone finding a solution. I think its acting a little off so I want to flash my phone, get more music, and other stuff. Please.....please.

Kies is a strange program. It either works or it doesn't. Delete your browser's cookies reboot and try Kies again. Let us know how you make out.

No such luck. All private and tracked data has been erased and still no Kies connection. Just spins there in the top left corner trying but not working.
I'm still up for help though.

Go into settings and allow USB Debugging and Unknown Sources. Reboot both the phone and PC and give it a go

    Welcome to the forum!
I never could get my S3 to connect to Kies, but I didn't really try very hard since it's not something I really need. Good luck in getting it worked out though.

I'm sure you already did all of this, but it seems like a good checklist.

    SAMSUNG

I have never used Kies either. I wish you well.

The "invalid Hardware ID" problem seems to have different explanations. I had the same problem a couple of days ago. For me the quick-fix was this : changing the USB port from the front panel to the rear one of my PC (which, by the way, has a steady +5V input from the MB) solved the problem. The drivers installed without problems and KIES saw the phone just fine. I also was able to access the SDCARD and internal storage memory ok. This has a good explanation in fact. From time to time small static electric charges build onto the USB port making the devices become unrecognizable or performing unexpected. I just realized the port I was connecting my S3 to the PC was the same I use on a daily basis with various sticks. However some users did not solve their problems in such a manner. It seems the only stable USB driver for S3 is version 1.4.6.0 which can be found after a quick search on Google (aprox. 24,276,992 bytes, 23.1 MB). Try to uninstall the current USB driver and manually install this one. It should work, as an option 2.
    Cheers!

Bingo I had to use older drivers for the PC to see the phone myself. It will work with the older drivers.
