thanks for the help! I really love the swiftkey so far. A little freaky how well it guesses what I'm typing. haha! hoping hoping hoping I don't have anymore issues with the keyboard failing. so far so good!

having the same issue the past two days now. tried battery pull and restart, still doing it. id call it SERIOUS lag on the keyboard. only does it randomly
smart keyboard has not helped, swiftkey has not helped.
STOCK S3 on VZW, Not rooted
If none of the different keyboards have made a difference in the lag, you may need to do a factory reset. How often do you reboot your phone? You may also try going into task manager and clearing your ram. If that does nothing, back everything up and do a factory reset.
Good luck!

I had issues with the native keyboard surrounding the word suggestions & auto spell. I found Swype a great substitute but it is a bit of a drain to get it from the website.
I find the keyboard problem here perplexing since it is virtual keyboard residing in software. Could it be a bad memory problem that is causing addressing issues to a certain a section of memory ?
It maybe better to bite the bullet and get a new one at this point. If the problem was systemic to the design - I'm sure we would have heard more about this. (just a layman viewpoint)
I have used the factory keyboard, swype, and A.I. Keyboard. I would say the factory keyboard is the least used but I'll use it off and on. It takes a lot more tweeking in the settings to make it work better. Swype is probably the most used. It's prediction and learning is very good for me. A,I. I like as a non-swype type keyboard.
I have not experienced any lag with any of these keyboards (I have also been through a few S3 phones as well). I know, a shock to those who know me.
Anyways, if lag is not fixed by clearing cache, data, and or a factory reset, ss CR6 mentioned, I'd possibly look into a replacement phone.
The only other thing that comes to mind would be in the developer Options (menu>>settings>> Developer Options>>> from there I'd turn "window animations scale" and
"Transiton animation scale" to OFF. Maybe this would help with the keyboard lag issues.

When I was on the stock ROM every once in awhile this would happen to me.... I solved it by clearing the ram... Hold down HOME button and go into task manager.... That would solve it for a day or so..... Then it was back to do it again....
well, good news- the swiftkey 3 keyboard's been beautifully problem free, woohoo!! I haven't had a crash with the keyboard since I switched to it. Hoping the issue has disappeared and was just some weird glitch in the original keyboard. Good luck to those still struggling with it! Thanks for all the help.
I can reproduce this error at will.
Go into txt messages.
Open a new one, or existing one.... to send
when the keyboard comes up....
hit the little mic button to speak
say anything.
press 'done'
bang. Keyboard stops responding after that.
every time.
I'll try clearing data, but that didn't see to work for some above.
Yeah I went ahead and paid for swiftkey3- no more issues and it's infinitely better anyhow!
Excellent starks! Swiftkey is well worth the money!
