The other night my S3 was in my pocket, and it was raining pretty heavily. When I pulled it out there was moisture on the screen and back, but it wasn't immersed. Anyway, power was on, and while the phone continued to function just fine, after about an hour my power button stopped working, except on its own accord (i.e., when I press the button it doesn't sleep the phone, but it will randomly sleep/wake up itself). Only thing I could think of is some water got in there and messed with the circuit, but it was such an insignificant amount of moisture that seems pretty ridiculous.
Anyway, several questions:
- If it's already on the fritz like that, what are the chances there is just a little bit of moisture in there that may dry out as opposed to the circuit already being shorted (and unfixable)?
- I don't have insurance. Since it is probably water damage, regardless of amount, am I probably just flat out screwed when it comes to getting a replacement (from Best Buy, if it matters)?
- Don't suppose there is a way to disable/change the power button? Seems unlikely, but from what I can tell that is the ONLY thing wrong with the phone.
Thanks all.
