Notification Sounds

OK, so I posted this in the general topic before realising it should be here.

Got my S3 yesterday , still finding my way around.

Having some trouble with notification sounds.

I want a notification for SMS/text but not for email (specifically Gmail). Cannot see how to set these separately.

I've set the notification sound (settings/sound/default notifications) to Temple Bell - fine for texts. But the phone rings briefly when a Gmail is delivered. How do I turn that off?

By the way, love the phone so far, big step up from MIUI on an original HTC Desire!!

I don't have my S3 yet but I would check the setting in the Gmail app. There should be one for notifications

Like Jeff say.

Launch Gmail
- Go to setting (In Gmail setting menu)
- Click on your email account ( xxx@gmail.com)
- Ringtone & Vibrate
- Ringtone and put to silent.

How did you end up solving this problem? When I get an email my phone makes a sound. I have read the advice below and have changed the gmail settings but it is when I get an email in my other account and I cannot find how to turn it off.

Any help would be appreciated!

You mean exchange email/other than Gmail app? If yes:
- Launch your email app
- Go to setting in your email app
- You can see your email account: xxx@xyz.abc.xxx
- Click your email account
- New page will pop up
- Select ringtones - silent

thanks... this worked for my facebook alerts too!!! I wanted different notification sound than my texts,,,same general principal thanks guys
