Battery drain..

Need some help here, my phone has been fine up until a day or so ago. I download a few apps, amd moticed they were draining the battery very quickly. So I removed them, but its still pretty bad and the battery is getting hot...

Clear the memory and try to restart it.... See what that does... I always restart my phone much like my computer any time I uninstall anything

Okay, I rebooted and thought the problem was fixed, but now I'm down to 7%... what are the chances of having a defective battery?

The culprit seems to have been an app called Mercury Messenger. Not sure why I still had the problem when I removed it, but wound up doing a factory reset. When I run the app, the battery gets hot and drains very quickly. I have this app on my Nexus 7 with no issues...

It must just not play well with the kernel or Touchwiz

Yeah, something else is going on though, I ended the app and uninstalled, and it stopped for a bit, then got hot again and went down to 15%, all this in a matter of 6 hours... android system is used the most with 70%.. but with that app even installed it still, like you said, might not play well at all...
