Phone calls to Car Speakers

Is there a way to hear output phone calls to the car speakers, when an MP3 cable is attached between the phone and the stereo?
Since the phone can obviously play music that way it should be possible to set it up somehow that way. Also, when and earset is connected, calls are already routed to the earbuds - How can the phone even tell the difference is it is earbuds or an MP3 to car stereo cable connected? Maybe anyone knows of a way to use Tasker or Settings Profiles to run it this way?

The only way I know how to get a phone convo in the car is via blue tooth. I'm not seasoned enough to tell u why the Aux cable doesn't allow it.

Since a car stereo has no microphone, the short answer is no.

This works via my FM transmitter. Just hit the speaker phone option when a call comes through. Callers voice comes through the speakers, my voice goes through speaker phone. Crude method but it works quite well.

when you connect a 3.5mm jack into your phone it will do different things depending on how it connects.

standard ear buds and aux cables, if you look closely, only have two rings on them, that is the stereo output.

ear buds and what not with mic's built in have three rings, two are stereo and the third is the microphone input.

I saw on a thread yesterday someone post a pic and link of a aux cable that had a mic integrated into one of the ends it's made schoshe (spelling ?) and was found at wal-mart If I find I'll Update this post with it.

not sure why there is confusion on this? I have my phone plugged into my care stereo via the headset and it plays my music.. when I get a call it cuts the music and lets me speak hands-free and listen to my call through my car speakers.. when the call ends, it goes back to the music.. I think it is the player I am using for music (PowerAmp pro) and the settings in there... what music player are you using?

I use Google music and it works the same. Listening to music via FM transmitter. If i get/make a call music stops call goes through speakers and when the call ends the music goes back on.

I can't say how the aux cable works, I use either Bluetooth or a USB cable (my deck is USB capable also) I think I'll try it out when I get off work to see what all the fuss is about also
