Update: If I were you I would use this image [[ROM] PROPER Remake of Rooted Stock Image [Verizon] over the one below. The one below has some Sprint code and other oddities that will make your default keyboard not work like stock and change a few things I can't remember right now. This was a good first swipe at root but lets move on.

I just followed the instructions located here but basically:

Note: I did have to do a battery pull before it would allow me to click start. Not sure why just FYI. I did NOT lose any of my settings, apps, etc...

So Debian Dog, even though us VZW GS3 owners are now able to obtain root thru the method you used from above, are our phones still BRICK-ABLE?

    Just curious...

Always. Only the Droid 1 was unbrickable and even that had a few exceptions.

Yes....that's always a risk, but bricking these phones into unrecoverable oblivion is not the norm. Not impossible but rare.

Could use some help, i used Odin3 and was successful, phone booted up and everything. Now when i tried to use adb to get CWM, i was getting a no device error. So i figured maybe i had to do it in Odin mode, well now i can't boot into Odin mode. Any idea where i went wrong?

Pull the battery, wait 30 seconds, and then try again?

See that's what i figured, but when i tried adb with the phone on and plugged in, i got the no device found error. Did you use adb to get CWM or did you stop right after you got root?

No, I did not bother with it for now being I have nothing to load with CWM. I was happy to debloat and get rid of all those damned ads with AdFree.

Did not realize how many apps, games, and web pages HAD ads
