    Issues Rooting

    Hello all,
I have been trying to root my s3 on some crappy pc for like a week, trying not to trip the flash counter, and it refuses to work so I say skrew it and use my shiny new mac pro to root it and it gets close but I get this error in heimdall that says "ERROR: Failed to initialize protocol!" So I use
    Code:
    sudo kextunload -b com.devguru.driver.SamsungComposite
    sudo kextunload -b com.devguru.driver.SamsungACMData
    sudo kextunload -b com.devguru.driver.SamsungACMControl
And still no better. I already had USB debugging on so I tried it off and nothing, The android file transfer for mac dosent recognize my phone and it never did and I don't see how I'm suppost to use keis. Ya I kinda need a lot of help. BTW this is the AT&T model of the phone.

Hello Swag and welcome to the Forum. I rooted my S3 on my MAC using this link. It went perfectly. Follow the directions and be sure you downloaad the files for your specific phone. Don't worry about the counter as it can always be reset if you go back to stock.
As for Android File Transfer, It worked perfectly until I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I hope the DEV will fix the App as it's worked well.

Let us know how you make out with rooting

I would download the files again as you may have gotten a bad download.

Uninstall Kies and reboot your MAC. Try the root process again

    Re: Issues Rooting

    Welcome to the forum swag!
Just an fyi: a "bad download" doesn't necessarily mean from the link you got the file from. Two people can download the same exact file from the same link and one will work fine while the other person's won't. A simple redownload will often fix you right up.
    Good luck!

If your current method fails again you may want to try this
