Ext SD card mount during recovery?

I guess I have should have purchased the 32gb s3. I am disappointed in my s3 because I can't seem to find a way to use my SD card for storage for cwm backups and zip files. I know there is a.way to make my s3 the think the ext SD card is internal memory but I'd rather not do that hack. My fascinate was able to do this and now my s3 can't.

I think it depends which version I know you can do it with TWRP but I forget how I did it with CMS.

I've tried to do it in twrp it tells me there is 0mb on ext SD card. I have 46gb free. I wonder if its a format issue. I am going to copy my SD card to my PC and have my s3 format the card.

From what I understand, the dev for App2SD is working on a fix so the US variants will be able to do this. (He has it working for the Intl models)
    I miss that feature too!
