Yeah I need to pick up something cheap for that reason. There's a cellphone store in our local mall that had an old Eris for sale for something ridiculous like $70 or $80. If I can talk them down some maybe I'll grab that for nostalgia's sake.![]()

**Rooted? Custom ROM? Verizon user? Do This ASAP: Install this, open, type "su" (grant), type "reboot nvbackup". Phone reboots. Flash this file in custom recovery. Read this thread. 2 minutes possibly just saved you 2 hours.**

First post. I went RIGHT back to the Verizon store and got another phone lol. I rooted and unlocked then went straight to MIUI lost data just roaming. I had no idea about this issue until I received my new phone and did a little more reading. Did the 1st and second backup but I'm still terrified to flash anything. I was scared to root and unlock.

No worries all should know this is a friendly forum and things like that won't be tolerated and if it was any way of thought like that bit would have been made appropriate .. Everyone should know to come here and ask questions as they are welcome and there is no "dumb " question

Old Droid X's are on the cheap now too I got one in pretty good shape for the g/f for around $50+shipping on ebay. Of course once I got it I found out I had to get another battery as the current one was bulging and a screen protector, but still total investment was probably ~$65 which isn't bad at all and that phone is built like a tank so it makes a great backup.
BTW, regarding backups, I am always of the opinion more is better. However, I have not heard of anyone permenantly losing IMEI after doing the nvbackup commands, so I tend to believe that actually fixes the problem from occuring. However, as I said, the more the merrier just in case.![]()
