Secondly, is everyone seem to be having an ok time restoring backups with cwm touch?

TBH I had all sorts of issues with various recoveries when I first started flashing ROMs. Missing system files, not being able to mount the internal/external SDCard, wiping the internal SDCard without giving it the wipe command, etc.

I finally settled on the 6.0.1.0 version of CWM, non-touch. After I loaded up an external SDCard I've had no issues at all. By far the most stable, and works with kexec and all AOSP/stock-based ROMs.

Finally got tired of the CM10 data issues and came back to Beans, doing a SIM card reprovision to rebuild my data/RIL again. lol. Can tell you that the 6.01.0 does work though for stock and AOSP, ICS and JB, and also with kexec (custom kernels)

I know you said you tried EZ Recovery already, but try this one and the custom recovery img that's included in the zip.

It didn't want to boot the phone back up. Just came back to recovery. It was an issue with the ROM/kernel I was running. But, nothing would flash in TWRP. I had a copy of just about every ROM and none would work. Finally got back in and said f that noise. I'm sticking with CWM. CWM is definitely the smarter choice. There isn't a ROM there that won't work with it as far as I know.

Goose, what are the differences between CWM Touch 5.8.4.9 and CWM (non-touch) 6.0.1.0? I used the former to make a nandroid backup; should I redo it with the latter?

Just an update, I went ahead and used TWRP to flash Synergy 1.3 and O.o.......
it worked fine. Booted up now, waiting for my apps to finish auto downloading, I will restore my app data to a couple of my games and then Ill put this thing through its paces.

FYI, I used ez recovery to install TWRP. And I rooted with the flashless root tool.

Np, I'm glad I stuck with twrp and tried it out. It's very quick and easy to use. So far it has worked perfectly. Only time will tell, I realize it can't flash kexec stuff but I'm not interested in those ROMs atm. I'll wait till that gets a little more ironed out.

I used TWRP to flash synergy 1.3...but I was having the same problems that silver was having with TWRP not finding the location of the ROM, which was /mnt/sdcard...
I could never get TWRP to locate /mnt...Even thru goomanager I could select the ROM loacation, but TWRP would fail at install saying that it couldn't find it.

Once I moved the ROM to the external sd card, it found it and installed no problem...Just wondering if there's a setting or something that we missed that wouldn't allow TWRP to access /mnt???

Oh well, at least we got it worked out somehow....
