Using a music file as my ringtone Galaxy S3

Hi, I'm trying to use a music file as my ringtone but somehow it's not working out. I have gone to the RIngtone option and scrolled all the way down which gave me the option + from phone.
I've chosen Dropbox (I've already downloaded the file beforehand) and chose the music file I wanted. Afterwards a box appeared in which it looks like my file is being chosen. However, the box would just disappeared but the default ringtone is still chosen. Does anybody have the same problem? What went wrong?
    Thanks for any help!!

Hi Angelina! I usually use the stock ringtones so I'm not the best person to help you. One alternative you can use is an app like Zedge. That's what I always use when I want an alternative ringtone.

Hello Angelina and welcome to the forum!

Is the music file local on your phone? That is what it seemed like to me.

What should help is to create the same file structure for the media on your external Sdcard.
Main file is Media, then inside it are the other three folders.
Drop the desired ringtones, alarms, and notifications in the respective folders and you should be good to go. I do this and don't have any issues.

    Hope it works for you.
