Excellent question. When I pre-ordered mine the Verizon rep tried to get me to buy a car charger then.
She said they were having a lot of phones come back faulty (not S3's obviously) because people were using different brand chargers. There was nothing wrong with the phones. I figured I had a month to decide, so I waited.
I have a Motorola charger I got for my DX and was wondering the same thing. Will it work? Or is there a difference in voltage/amperage between Motorola and Samsung and/or LG or whatever else?
Hope someone can answer this question.

I use that same Moto car charger with my (Samsung) GNex. Works great!
Tappity-tap'd
I have the same charger as a spare, the output specs should be printed (or cast) on the charger. When I get my S3 I will compare specs before using. As long as the output specs are the same I do not see how it could make a difference.Excellent question. When I pre-ordered mine the Verizon rep tried to get me to buy a car charger then.

Google is "Skynet". I know that one day my Android phone is going to turn into a robot and try to kill me, but I am o-k with that.
My S3's stock cable output is 5v---1.0a

I have an OEM Samsung travel charger from some previous Samsung... can't remember which, but it's output is 5.0V/0.7a. Looks like i'll have to ditch it. Does the stock GS3 charger have a long cable?
Well 5V seems to be unanimous.. it's the amps in question. I wonder how much truth there is in this explanation?

I don't believe the charger having a lower mA rating should affect whether the phone charges or not. It should only charge at a different rate.
I could try out my other Sammy chargers. I have two more that are from different devices. And a generic microusb.

This is also the output from my Player 5 charger let me try it real quick.
Edit: Both chargers from my other Sammy devices work. One is 1a and the other is .7a.
