iPhone convert.........but....

Hi all, much like many others, the i5 just didnt wow me. Ive had an iPhone since day one and swore I would never change..........until the S3. Im really liking the customization and the ability to change some "core" apps (I know thats a very iPhone thing to say)

The ONE thing I am missing most about my iPhone are the push notifications. Am I missing something in my settings? Should I be receiving anything? Im using the same apps as the iPhone, ebay, paypal, streamzoo....but Im just not getting any notifications and my mail isnt just flowing in like on the iPhone.

You will have to go into each app and set up the push notifications and ringtone for each.... What email app are you using and what server? (hotmail yahoo etc....) Just an FYI sometimes for unknown reasons some apps don't receive instant push notifications...

Or maybe, the notification updates has been turned off from the notifications bar. You would notice this if there's an encircled 'i' with a diagonal line.

Thanks for the responses. So i did go into ebay and checked off more options for notifications (however I do believe even the ones checked I was not getting anything) I went into the PayPal app and I dont see anything there. I do a good deal of selling on ebay and these notification are very helpful. I still have my iPhone (on wifi only) and that thing still goes off instantly when something sells or gets paid etc.

I am using the stock mail app. I didnt see the need or use in having my gmail account in the gmail app and then my yahoo mail in the other. I really dont think this is cause for me to return the phone, but I have to say, out of all the growing pains and learning curves, this is the most frustrating. (the second was some cache I agreed to clear which deleted all my pictures! never again will I delete a cache!LOL)

Hey Tommy, welcome to thye forum! I use K9 for email, it's in the play store. It has way more options than the stock email. Check it out and see what what you think of it. It may help you (email-wise) that is.

I've always gotten notifications via email for both ebay and paypal. I wasnt aware there were separate types of notifications for these.

Tommy what cache did you clear that deleted all of your pictures?? I am not aware of deleting any cache that will actually remove photos.... If it was an app that is used to view photos I would be willing to bet that if you restart your phone that they will reappear.....

I believe if you clear your gallery cache and data, all pics. will be gone.
