Play SIII Through PC Sound Card

I have a 3.5mm male/male cable, and I hooked one end to my SIII, the other end to the line-in (light-blue) on my PC sound card. Should I expect to hear sound from apps such as media players and streaming radio?

I am unable to hear anything. I also tried the other input ports, like microphone, to no avail. Thanks for any advice.

I connect mine to my laptop at work but i dont think it's directly to the sound card. I'll double check it on Monday when i go in, and/or tomorrow on my laptop at home and let you know my findings.
