    Does GPS Drain Battery?

I am thinking of installing one of those lost phone finder apps. Most of them want you to leave your GPS enabled. Does the battery take a significant hit leaving GPS on all the time. Some say yes and some say no. Also any preferences on which of these free apps works the best? As always, thanks a bunch. CC

it used to in older versions of android. But now if an app is not actively using it no. I leave mine on 24/7

You can use an app like GSam to track when things come on and off and the cost to your battery.

Battery life is good! I am using Juice Defender also

I still don't understand how you guys are getting so much battery life??? The mist I've gotten is about 13 hours once. That was it.

Kind of sounds like yours is staying awake constantly. I have no issues with getting 24+ hour battery life with moderate/normal use. But when I had wakelock issues, my battery life was around 13 hours with very little use.

I agree with Debian. Having GPS on doesn't kill the battery unless an app (like Maps or Facebook) is using the GPS and waking the CPU.

yes facebook and twitter are bad because they're constantly updating unless you have something like juice defender that stops it from doing so.

    Here's what I got.....

On the bottom is instagram at 2%. I know I read that the cell standby is eating up battery. I'm thinking that's the problem with mine!! I just dont get it.

May, click on the gray battery chart there and then screenshot it. That way we can see if it's always awake. And click "screen" and see how much 'time on' is says.

Are you using it for hours at a time off the charger? I'm surprised to see the screen pulling the most juice. Mine is typically 15-25% in a 16 hr period.

You also have to look at his cell standby compared to yours. His is much larger, thus he'll have longer battery life than you. I think 13 hours is pretty damn good myself. That's more than I get during a typical day.
