I received my S3 Proclip charging holder today. These pics make the holder and my interior look gray; but both are actually very black. This is a fixed wire holder that I have connected directly to the fuse box. The holder looks great and the phone inserts effortlessly. The mount for the holder is actually a separate piece. Proclips makes mounts specific for most car models. My mount is not a Proclips mount; but is made for my car. The proclips holder screws onto it perfectly.I always have purchased Proclip Car Mounts and Holders. They are very high quality. Once you have the mount specific to your car, you can screw the holder that is specific to your phone to the mount. If you get a new phone, the old mount can still be used. I have use the "fixed installation" version which is directly wired to my fuse box. I just ordered the replacement holder for my S3 to replace my D3 holder. I'll just unscrew the Droid3 holder from the existing mount and screw in the new S3 holder.

Haven't got a car dock yet, but if you want your phone to stay on while charging use the app called Screen On.

jfourman - Do you have a URL to that mount (the part the phone sits in)? Also, do you have any pics with the phone in it?
The S3 holder is from ProclipUSA. They also have mounts designed specifically for most car models. Their website will step you through selecting the appropriate holder/mount combination for your car. Proclip products aren't cheap; but their quality and customized options are hard to beat. For most phones, you can choose a holder that will accept a cigarette lighter power connection or a fixed installation where power is connected directly to the fuse box.
At the time I bought my car, Proclip did not yet have a mount for my model so I bought my mount from a company in Norway that had a mount for my car. The mounting holes for the S3 Proclip holder aligned perfectly.
I ended up buying the universal holder from ProClip. I bought the universal one because the S3 specific one probably wouldn't have worked with my case. But, I'm very happy with it. Pretty much exactly what I've been seeking for a holder.

I screwed the base onto the little plastic panels below my Onstar button. I figured those are cheap and easy to replace whenever I'm ready to sell this truck.
