    Vertical stripe on screen

    Since yesterday afternoon I get this vertical stripe on my S3 display...magenta coloured, 1 pixel wide... strange thing is it kinda comes and goes and the intensity varies... When booting up it is bright, then during boot it completely goes away, then after pin-code entry it's back but very pale...bit later can be bright again...

    Anybody have the same issue? Since it sometimes goes away completely, I would say that the hardware itself is not faulty...grmbl...

    My daughter is fighting with Verizon right now to get a new phone. They won't budge and said that the 14 day period is over. It looks like a refurbished one is her only option.

    I have had this issue on my Dell laptop and my Sharp Aquos TV, but not on my S3 phone. In both cases it was classified as a manufacturers defect with the LCD screen. In the case of Dell I sent them the laptop and they put in a new LCD screen. With the TV, Sharp was taking too long to fix the TV that the store I bought it from gave me a full refund and I used the cash to buy a Samsung TV that hasn't given me any problems

    If you return to verizon store quickly, chances are high that they do not have refurbished units yet. You would then most likely receive a new unit. The longercyou wait, the greater the chances are that you will receive a refurb (or " certified like new" as they call it).

    Welcome to the forum lagavulin! Send it back for sure. We've heard of a few units that had faulty screens, but that's not unusual with the staggering amount of S3's that shipped out. That's bound to happen with ANY product mass produced like this.
    And I wouldn't worry too much about any "refurbs" at this point. It's safe to say a lot of them are simple "returns" from thousands of people who ordered the S3, only to find out later it had a locked bootloader, or just weren't happy with it/couldn't figure it out etc., so they returned it for something else or went back to an apple based product. Most "certified-like new" S3's you may receive as a replacement, should be just fine.

    I talked to a lady named Sherie and my daughter is getting a "new" phone shipped out today. The normal Verizon people wouldn't help so I talked to tech support who connected me with somebody else and I was successful in not only getting a "new" phone but maintaining the unlimited plan.

    1-866-221-4096 is what I called and they connected me to somebody different (obviously the correct person).

    verizon once sent me a brand new battery and door, all because I called asking how to purchase a replacement door. Their cs rocks.
