So....getting back to the OPs question, is there any advantage in using the new sim card that comes with the S3 over a sim card that is already being used? Thx
I didn't have a choice but to switch to the new style.

i have t mobile and had to switch to the new sim which was a new micro sim card so maybe if you dont already have a micro sim already
If you are with AT&T and coming from a 3G phone they will issue a new 4G sim. Unlimited users will also get a higher cap before they throttle you once you are on the 4G plan.

The GS3 actually uses a micro sim card which is smaller than the regular sim that the Verizon 4G phones use. I just activated the new card that came with the phone. There are things that can "cut" down the sim that you already have.
When I got my S3, they activated a new SIM card vs using the SIM in my Razr Maxx (it was the only phone I had with me)...when I got home, I wanted to swap the S3 with my gNex so I put the new SIM card from the S3 back in my Maxx and swapped my gNex's SIM card to the S3 - when in a 4g market, I do not get 4g so I think it is related to the SIM card (unless I have a bad S3)...
I have a great sim cutter, but I left it in the U.S. so while in Azerbaijan I had a local store chop them down.
