Hi all new here and to Samsung. Previously iPhone user.

Can some one explain to me the difference between Samsung email and the gmail clients in the s3.

The Samsung has my 4 email accounts listed and syncing accounts, whilst the gmail just shows the email accounts.

So when I get an a email I get 2 notifications

Can I not just use one or the other?

You can use either. I never set up the default email app because I use the Gmail app.

The Samsung email client is a modified stock android email client. It can handle multiple email accounts simultaneously including pop, IMAP, and exchange.

The gmail client is a stand-alone client that only handles gmail. I believe it will push sync gmail while the Samsung will only check gmail every 15 min. I'm not 100% certain on that.

You can just use one or the other. If you don't want to use the gmail client, simply disable email sync and/or notifications from that client.

How do you sync/ backup there is nothing in gmail.?

You can't disable gmail in applications manager. So I guess just delete accounts in app then?

To sync Gmail you will find it under Accounts and Sync in the Settings app. You have to select the account name to access it.

Correct. To get rid of Gmail notifications just delete the Gmail account.

Hey gang...pure newbie here to the forum site and to android phones as well...does anyone know how to "cc" someone in an email composed using the gmail app? Prob an easy solution that I have overlooked but would like some help please !

Welcome to the forum!
While you're composing an email, just click on your menu button and you'll see the cc/bcc option.
