iBOLT vehicle Dock for Galaxy S III

All, it appears that there's light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to the Jellybean issues. The Car-dock mode, aux-out through the microUSB and charging is back in the Sprint version that was just release yesterday! These features were removed in the European and pre-release versions of Jellybean. Apparently Samsung have listened to the "fire-storm" of users that requested and wanted these features "back in". If you are using an OEM Car Dock, or an aftermarket Dock like our iBOLT.co product everything works as it should. I've attached screen shots supplied by user "Demetrius jr" (Thanks for your help!) as well as a link to the YouTube video he just made. We are contacting Samsung asking for confirmation that the AT&T, T-mobile, Verizon and US Cellular version will have these features "back" but it appears logical they will be in the there...

I'm on a 9305 (the 4g LTE version in the UK) and on 4.1.1 and it's not working. Baseband I9305BVALI5

Any news on when this might be updated here in the UK? (Tmobile) Checked the phone updates and it says it;s the latest version.

No word on when Samsung will update the International version and "turn on" these features. We hope to clarify that question in the coming week. We have compiled Kernel for S 3 phones NOT used on the United States networks (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-mobile, US Cellular etc.) with the car-dock and aux-out feature turned on, see instructions below. However, please be aware that using a non-Samsung approved Kernel may void the warranty so if you use these links it is on your own initiative without any implied warranty from our side. Anyway, here's the links and set up instructions.

Galaxy S3 I9300: This is the normal 3G international version that is usually sold worldwide except NA and North East Asia.

The kernels are labeled "iBolt-Kernel" (You can see it on the device itself), this is for reference only. We hope that next time Samsung updates the European Kernel they will turn the features on and then you can simply replace this one.

For installing only a kernel, you just need the PDA portion with the files above. The application is compatible for all the above phones.

I'm a recent switcher from iPhone and compared to Jailbreaking that looks scary as hell! Plus the warranty thing.... looks like as much as I want the dock features back I'll prob bottle it and wait for an update. Anyone an idea of how long it's likely to take? Thanks iBolt for posting though, and very pleased it WILL work (just a question of time).

Actually one question.... if i update using this kernal. will the 'update' within the phone still update me when the NEXT one comes along... or will i have to flash back to 'official' firmware before it'll continue telling me when updates are available?? Just worried i'll be stuck with doing manual updates in future.

Thanks ibolt support my dock working nicely again with Jelly bean - only took 2 mins to flash the new kernel.

This is true costomer support.

Is there to be an ibolt for the S3 mini when it comes out?

I tried to flash my kernel but it just hangs at the Samsung logo on reboot.
I can't even reboot to factory settings, my phone is bricked.

Reinstalled the original firmware and updated to Jellybean again. Pheww...

I'm waiting for Samsung to release an official fix.

Yes, we are working on the S III mini solution but it will not be out until end of December because this is how long the tooling takes.

All, we here at iBOLT.co have received multiple confirmations from observant end-users (thanks all for the help!) that Samsung's UK customer service is now responding that the car-mode will be supported shortly through a firmware update. This is significant as this is essentially the same version as being used by everyone outside the US. To confirm we contacted Samsung's end-user support ourselves yesterday and we also received the response below. So, for anyone using any model car-dock with the S III, be patient and it appears that the problem will go away soon... Here's the email response from Samsung...

Dear Martin,

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing with your Samsung Galaxy S III handset since the Jellybean update.

We are currently developing a fix for this issue and we will be rolling it out via a firmware update in due course.
